"One World, One Heart ... Building a Better Tomorrow"

Valentine's Greetings, Candlewood Lions!

Special thanks was extended to each Candlewood Lion from the grateful family of Hero Firefighter Stephen Siller for our $500 contribution and from the youngsters of Green Chimneys for the "magic" that our holiday party brought into their lives.  Such accolades make us grateful to be Lions.  Thank you, also, for your prayers and good wishes on behalf of my son-in-law, Lee. He recuperates well.  On Saturday, March 15th each of you will be given the opportunity to tour the lions Yale Eye Research Center in New Haven at 9 AM to visibly see our fundraising dollars at work.  Space is limited.  Please call me to sign up.  You will not be disappointed with this Lionistic experience.  "An educated Lion is a dedicated Lion!"  To date 16 will attend the Mid-Winter Conference On Feb. 7-9 at the Farmington Marriott, a record-breaking number! More of you are warmly invited to learn more about Lionism. Lion-to-Be Jerry King will lead-us in a rousing Candlewood version of "Oklahoma", Lion Pam Ellis will show off her square dancing moves, and Lion "Magic Marty" will sell us "snake oil", as we compete in the Lions talent contest for the first time.  Bring boots and scarves.  Cowboy hats come with your registration.  It should be a great hoe down.  Hopefully, we will also enter the Chili Cook off and Cactus Centerpiece Competition.  Candlewood welcomes Lions-to-Be Peggy and Jerry King who will find time in their busy theatrical retirement to be inducted on March 27th.  They both conduct free concerts at convalescent homes.  How Lionistic!  First Vice President Lion Lovie Bourne and I attended the District Membership Seminar last Saturday.  Each Lion is urged to invite a new member to join the world's largest service organization. Share Lionism with a friend!  Bring a few prospective members to our Wine Tasting Fundraiser on Thursday, February 27 at $10 a ticket.  Then, get your tables together for our major event of the year, our Mystery Dinner Theater Gala on Saturday, April5 at Anthony's Lake Club in Danbury.  Come solve the murder of a master magician in his Southern mansion. Join the mystery, murder, and mayhem of "Mr. Rios' Legacy".  Happy Valentine's Day!
