"One World, One Heart ... Building a Better Tomorrow"

St. Patrick's Greetings, Candlewood Lions!

And the show went on!!! For the first time in Candlewood history we participated in the skit competition at the Lions Mid-Winter Conference. Outfitted in cowboy gear, led by Lion-to-Be Jerry King, we sang a medley of "Oklahoma" and "Home on the Range". Lion-to- Be Peggy King made Oklahoma placards. We concluded with a rousing OK! Lion Pam, decked out in her cute square dance outfit, twirled in front of us, as Lion Magic Marty sold snake oil water".  A medal and applause was our Academy Award! Thank you to all 17 Lions who attended despite the bitter cold and snow. Lion Jodi Rell welcomed all as the state's official representative. Our Lion Bob registered 553. Congratulations on a job well done. Lions Donna and Hillary were official district photographers. Now consider attending the State Convention at historic Pocono Manor in May with golf, as the western theme continues to Denver, culminating at the International Convention in July with 30,000 in roaring attendance. Lions Day at the UN takes place on Friday, March 14 at 10AM. A talk by the Secretary-General, luncheon with the ambassadors, and a guided tour highlight this event. On Saturday, March 15 we will visit the Eye Research Center at Yale at 9 AM. Now is the time to plan for our major fundraiser, "Mr. Rios' Legacy", a mystery dinner theater gala. Get your tables together, gather some raffle prizes, and find your Southern costumes, y'all! The date is Saturday, April 5 at Anthony's Lake Club on Lake Kenosia in Danbury .The price is only $35 and includes dinner, show, and a fun-filled evening, Southern-style! Tickets are available from Lions Marge and Rob. Our Bunny Campaign goes well as we sell white and chocolate bunnies with our Lions logo for just $3. Special thanks are extended to Lion Jodi Rell for her generous donation to lions Charities in the name of her Candlewood Lions, who will designate the recipients. Happy St. Pat's!
