NEW FAIRFIELDCANDLEWOOD LIONS CLUB
PO Drawer G, New Fairfield, CT 06812
Robert B. Gyle III, PDG, PCC
Dear Candlewood Lion Members,
There were two sad occurrences this past month. First Vice President Jean Knopf’s mother passed away and 2nd Vice President Donna Larsen's grandmother also passed away. Our heartfelt condolences are with both of these outstanding Club leaders.
I'm writing this on Saturday morning April 30, and am so happy and proud of our club members for their turnout and support of our Dance. We should clear around $3,500 and will be in a position to help the efforts our organization with contributions through the rest of the year. Lion Jerry King put together a great show and our hats are off to him and his committee. Lion Fred Bourne put together a great program book. For those of you, who were not able to attend, talk to those who did and everyone should look at our web site for pictures. What a great success we had 120 reservations and almost everyone showed up.
On Sunday, June 12th at the Ethan Allen Inn we will be celebrating our club's 10th anniversary. I'm hoping that our Governor, Lion Jodi can attend to make a presentation just as she did when she was the newly elected Lt Gov. 10 years ago. In addition the two Past District Governors who served with me will also be on hand to reprise their roles as installing officers just as they did at our Charter Presentation. PID Otto Strobino will also attend as will a host of other dignitaries.
We will be adding ads to our Dance Program Book and it will be reformatted to serve as the program for the event. So I'd like to ask each member to seek out traditional advertisers for this event. Within the next few days you will be receiving a formal invitation with a return envelope. I would expect that every club member would want to attend however; we must get your response card on time for you to be assured a seat. The cost of the event is $30.00 and it will start at 11 a.m.
At our meeting on April 14th the following were elected as your club officers for 2005-2006

Our next evening meeting is going to be held on Thursday, May 26, 2005, 6:30 p.m. at the new Biscotti's Restaurant on Cotton Tail Road in New Fairfield. This is on the hill behind the shopping center on Route 37. If you need directions call me or Jean or any of the officers.
The cost for dinner will be $16.00 including tax and tip. I've eaten there a few times and can assure you that it will be an enjoyable dining experience.
The next Board of Director's Meeting is going to be held on Tuesday May 10lh at Union Saving Bank, New Fairfield, 6:30 p.m., please call Lion Marlene 746-7960 so we can get a count for a food order.
I'd like to remind you to see if those who you know and are interested in joining our club can complete a membership application and come to our may meetings. We pick up the cost for their first meeting and it would be nice if we could install them at our 10lh anniversary celebration.
We're having a pretty good year considering the illnesses and family concerns that have affected many of our members. Please remember we are a family of Lions and each of us is concerned about each other. Let's support each other for the rest of this year with the hope that next year will bring good health and happiness to all of us.
