Our club is as strong as our members..... Keep our club strong......

Jean Knopf
President, 2006-2007

Dear Candlewood Lion Members,

I am amazed to be writing this, my last newsletter as President of our club.  My year as President was a very busy time trying to balance work, family and club obligations but I found the experience the last two years to be greatly rewarding.  We are a club to be proud of and all members should take pride in our club and the organization we represent.  I know I took great pride in representing our club.  Everywhere I went I heard wonderful things about the Candlewood Lions Club and the work we are doing.

We had several fundraiser's this year and were able to meet both our lion project and community project goals.  I would like to thank all members who chaired these events and those who served on the committees.  Lion Marty will be presenting two scholarship awards at New Fairfield High School on June 6th.

I am still on medical leave, which has made it difficult for me to meet many of my oblations as President the last three month.  I would like to thank Lion Marty for stepping in and attending zone meetings and events I have not been able to.  I also thank Lion Marlene, Lion Gerry, Lion Lynn, Lion Greg, Lion Rob and Lion Seamus for their support.  Lion Marty has many exciting ideas for his year as President.  I know all members will support him as you all did me and make his year as successful as mine has been.

The first event for the new year will be the New Fairfield 4th of July Parade.  Our club sets up a tent and we handout bottles of water, juice and doughnuts.  Lion Marty, our incoming president, is organizing people to help get supplies, set up and come that day.  It is a fun morning with family and friends.  Please call Marty if you wish to take part.

There will be no morning meeting in June.  Our Installation Brunch will be held on Sunday, June 10th at the Redding Road House.  Please RSVP to Lion Marlene or I if you will be attending.

The Board Meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 13th and our last evening meeting will be Thursday, June 21st.  I hope to have them at Jim Barbarie’s in Danbury.  I am still waiting for confirmation from the restaurant, once confirmed I will let members know.
