As a club and as a nation we paused to reflect on the events of 9/11/01. We thank our new District Governor Marinus deJongh of Madison for joining us in this remembrance and for his positive message of renewal. Candlewood has been named a 100% Club for 2001-2002. On Sunday, October 13 a breakfast will honor such clubs. Let's celebrate together at Rapp's in Ansonia! A chevron was received for our increased membership, as 8 were added to our roster. Pam Ellis will be inducted on September 26. Welcome Pam! Hero Firefighter Stephen Siller, Lion John Hodge's late cousin, will be honored. A memory seminar will also be presented that evening at Ernie's. A very special evening! Chili Festival lll will be chaired by Lion Bob Gyle on Saturday, October 19. Raffle prizes and participants are needed. The three contest categories are political, club, and professional. Medals are awarded to each chili chef, trophies to the winners. Only $2 to taste all entries! A fun fund-raiser! Kudos to Lion Bob for garaging and selling our food truck for $2,000. First Vice-President Lion Lovie Bourne has worked on our new calendar. Thank you, Lovie. She will also chair the Social Services Committee, which will sponsor two needy families and a "Giving Tree". A magical show for special little people will highlight our holiday season. Condolences are extended to Lions Joan and Ed on the passing of her mother. The "stork" will pay a first visit to Lion Jenn Pryor in March. Hopefully, it will be a full Lions year of serving others --- "One World, One Heart".
