President, 2005-2006

Dear Candlewood Lion Members,

I know our hearts go out to all of those who have suffered the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Florida. LCIF has already done a great deal to help support people in these areas and will continue to do so. We should all take pride in this organization we belong to. Lions truly serve..

At the Board Meeting held on September, 6th it was voted that the Road Rally our club is sponsoring on Oct 30th will be a Rally for Support. A donation from our club will be sent to LCIF to be distributed as needed. Lion Bob Gyle is chairing this important event. Please show your support by coming out and joining us that day.

It is hard to believe that summer is now past. Days are getting shorter and cooler and the holidays are not to far away. As we do each year our club will be collecting funds from members to provide food baskets to families in our communities less fortunate. New member, Lion Ann Marie Sanchez has volunteered to act as the chairperson this year. Lion Donna Larsen has also volunteered to help. At each meeting starting in September, we will be passing a basket to ask for donations from members to help with the cost of these baskets. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Welcome to two new Lions. Lion Donna Magnoli and Lion Beth Handsman were installed by our own PDG Lion Bob Gyle at our September 15th meeting.

I have just returned from the USA/Canada Forum in Peoria, Ill. It was a great experience. The classes were very informative and the motivational speakers were outstanding. Attending this forum allowed me to have an understanding of the great organization we are all a part of. I strongly encourage everyone to try to attend the forum next year which will be held in Columbus, Ohio. I will be sending out information as soon as it is available.

As we kick off our year of exciting events in October I would like to thank all who have volunteered to be a part of a committee. Remember…if you are interested in serving on a committee to get in touch with the Chairperson. There are many jobs that will need to be done……some big and some small. Many hands will make the task lighter and we do have fun. If you cannot give your time to a committee please come and support your club on the day of the event. Remember our club is as strong as our members!

I wish you all a great month and look forward to seeing you at the meetings and/or events.

Lion Jean
