"One World, One Heart ... Building a Better Tomorrow"

Autumn Greetings, Candlewood Lions!

More than 3,000 Lions gathered in Fort Worth to attend the USA-Canada Leadership Forum to be inspired in song and speech to excel as Lions and citizens of the world.  The 40 bar "Billy Bob's Texas" with riding bull and two-step music added to the fun.  Many thanks to Lions Norma and Bob Gyle for hosting the Connecticut Lions lively hospitality suite.  Consider an adventure to Portland, Oregon next September for the 27th annual Forum.

We welcome newly inducted Candlewood Lions Pam Ellis and Wendy Farrington!  Please invite others to join us.  We were pleased to present our donation from the sale of patriotic pins to the family of hero Firefighter Stephen Siller, who was the 34 year old cousin of Lion John Hodge.  While "off-duty "Stephen ran through the Brook-lyn Battery Tunnel that fateful 9/11 morning to join his company Squad #1 of Brooklyn to rescue those in the Twin Towers.  He ultimately made the supreme sacrifice along with every other member of his squad.  Stephen's footsteps were retraced on Sept. 29 in the "Tunnel to Towers Run". Firefighter Siller left a wife and 5 young children.  Our hearts and prayers go out to Lions Kris and John Hodge and the Siller Family.

Candlewood will be honored at the 100% Club Breakfast on Sunday, October 13.  Join us!

Now that we have learned memory techniques from Carl Messina of the Memory Training Institute of Portland, Ct., we'll remember to be at our Chili Festival III on Saturday, October 19.  Thank you, Carl!

Start inviting guests to our Wine and Cheese Tasting Fundraiser on Thursday, November 21.  Only $10 a ticket, including cheese and crackers at Ernie's.  Lion Bob will once again chair this pre-holiday event.

Get Well Wishes are extended to Lions Carole Bender and Marianne Dahill.  Hurry back soon!

October is Trick or Treat for Sight Month.  Collect old glasses and bring them to Lion Fran!
