NEW FAIRFIELDCANDLEWOOD LIONS CLUB
PO Drawer G, New Fairfield, CT 06812
Dear Candlewood Lion Members,
HAPPY FALL TO ALL!!!!!!!
It is hard to believe that Halloween is only a week away and we are quickly heading towards the Holidays.
We have kicked off our year of events with the Chili Contest on October 15th with a very nice turnout. After all the days of rain we had leading up to it the sun came out and it was a beautiful day. Stew Leonard won in the professional category and Pete’s Place and New Fairfield Food Center were runners-up. The political category went to Hodge/Oliveri (our own Lion John Hodge) with runners-up Katkochin/McKeon and Mary Ann Carson. And last, but certainly not least, in the individual category our own Lion Allison Downs and Lion Marty Steinberg tied. Thank you to Lion Bob Gyle who chaired this event and all the volunteers who helped.
Congratulations to Lion Alice Hoxie who became a grandmother again. Her new grandson’s name is Hunter Robert Hoxie.
At our board meeting we voted to have a Raffle as a fund raiser for this year. It will be kicked off in early February and run to early May. We are in the planning stages but are thinking of the following prizes.
1st PrizeGas Gift Card$500.00 value 2nd PrizeTravel Gift Card$300.00 value 3rd PrizeStop & Shop Gift Card$200.00 value
We plan to sell tickets @ $10.00 each. To make this a successful fund raiser we will need the support of all members to purchase tickets for themselves and to sell tickets to friends, family and co-workers. To volunteer to be on the committee please call me.
The Danbury Lions Club has asked if any of our members would have the time to volunteer to drive New Fairfield residents to the Low Vision Support Group (Zone 5) every 4th Monday at the Danbury Senior Center between the hours of 1 to 3 pm. Anyone interested in volunteering for this worthy cause can call me and I will contact the Danbury Club.
